Continental was awarded the highest accolade by members of the tyre industry last night after being named Tyre Manufacturer of the Year 2012 by the NTDA (National Tyre Distributors Association) at the Tyre and Fast Fit (TAFF) Awards.

Whether it’s offering unique support provided to customers or developing innovative products, Continental invests heavily across its ranges. From working with manufacturers in developing extended mobility products such as the ContiSeal, the puncture resistant tyre, to making further advancements in winter tyre technology with the ContiWinterContact TS850, Continental remains at the forefront of tyre development.

This is backed by consistently high performance in leading independent tests. Continental currently has a broad range of accolades from leading motoring publications, such as ‘Best Winter Tyre’ in the 2012 Auto Express product awards and Best Buy accolades with Which? Magazine for the latest ContiPremiumContact 5 in 205/55 R16W, and for the ContiEcoContact 5 in tyre size 165/70 R14T.

This same high quality tyre development is true across all business units with the innovative CSEasy industrial solid tyre, which can be fitted without the need for a mounting press, to the latest generation of truck tyres with fuel saving technology and the world’s first tyre cost calculator to show these savings in real terms.

Continental is one of the leading manufacturers of passenger and light truck tyres in Europe, number 1 in original equipment and winter tyres, and the world’s fourth largest passenger tyre manufacturer. Its Commercial Vehicle tyre business is one of the largest manufacturers of truck, bus and industrial tyres worldwide. The product development focus of the Continental brand is to optimize all safety-relevant characteristics, while simultaneously minimising rolling resistance.

As well as delivering the highest quality products to its customers, Continental also prides itself on its supply chain performance and working closely with retailers to understand and improve their business. With this focused approach, Continental adds real value to the customers business, especially crucial in the current climate.

Managing director for Continental, David Smith, commented on the win; “We are delighted that our work and efforts have been recognised at the highest level, by the industry itself. I am particularly proud of my team who work hard to drive standards forward and make us the leading brand in the industry.”
